Boardseeker Magazine

April 28, 2010

I started adding external reviews to the website. First up is Boardseeker Magazine. This online magazine does a lot of testing throughout each season and is a great source of information. I’m adding links from the products on the website to corresponding tests on theirs. Be sure to pay them a visit.

I’m off to pick up my new Ezzy Wave Panther 2 6.0 tomorrow after which I will head to the birthday of fellow windsurfer Boa (Jan). Therefore no updates tomorrow. ;-)

More Dutch trade winds on the horizon?

Peter
April 27, 2010

If the predictions are to be believed we will go back to N and NE winds next week. This could very well mean another week or more of wind. Maybe I’m just reading into things. A couple of weeks ago we had more then a week of wind every day. Let’s wait and see.

I’ve started adding Deboichet fins to the website. I started with the two Dragon line fins for onshore wave and freerace. These are the only production fins Deboichet offers. All other fins are custom and the specifications can be altered for each customer.

I also update the Drops line up. Some information was missing and I added some images.

SurfersGroup Hybrid Race 1

April 26, 2010

I’ve added the specs for the SG Hybrid Race 1 to the database. The board will be available in a shop near you at the end of May. SurfersGroup will be expanding their line up soon with the addition of 4 new sails, a race fin, footstraps and mast. There are also designs ready for two more boards. These will be available at the ens of this, depending on sales results of the first board. I will add the specs as soon as I have them.

There’s little wind predicted for this week, so I should have some time to spend on the website.

Cold and gusty

I had another after work session today at Pampus Haven. The wind was a little weaker then yesterday and it was a lot colder. I went out on my F2 SX 68 and my Vapor 6.7. I had some trouble planning. The wind strength was going up and down a lot. Should have used a bigger sail or gone to the outside. Still had fun though even if I did have to work a little harder. My hands where freezing which made it a little harder as well.

I was trying my GoPro HD camera as well today. I’m trying different mount positions. I’ll keep you updated about the progress. Below is a short video (3:20) with me sailing through the harbor. Just to give you an impression. I will have a lot of fun with this little toy. I’m sure about that!

I’ve updated the Powerex masts I added recently as there was a small mistake in the carbon percentages. They should be correct now.

New mast brand: Enemii

Peter
April 20, 2010

New brands keep popping up left and right. Here’s a new brand from Germany called Enemii. They started just a few weeks ago. Their range currently exist of RDM and SDM masts (75% and 100%) at competitive prices. They also have a full carbon RDM extension. Let’s see what products will be added in the coming months. I’ve added the masts and mast extension to the website.

Pampus rules!

Another great session at Pampus Haven today . Predictions were okay, but when I arrived I noticed the wind was much stronger then predicted. I went out on my Ezzy Wave Panther 5.8 and Angulo Sumo 105. I immediately noticed that I could go smaller. I trimmed the sail a bit more and took my Starboard Quad 81. Great session. Just blasting around chop hopping and shredding the small waves. The sun was out as well. All the ingredients for a great session.

Looks like tomorrow will be windy as well.

Test bug fixes and some news.

Peter
April 17, 2010

We found a few bugs after last weeks launch. The developer has worked on fixing them and I was able to test them today. All looks well. You are my best testers so let me know if you come across a bug or something that doesn’t look right.

Ik got an email from the Sonntag fins team. They launched their website. As they said:

It took some time to complete the website. But now the first version is online.

You can visit their website at www.sonntag-fins.com.

I also got an email from Ka Sails. They will have demo material at Horst for this who are interested to try them on the 24th of April. Depending on the conditions I will come and have a look as well.

End of a great week!

April 16, 2010

It has been a great week. There was plenty opportunity to sail everyday. Today was no exception. Pampus Haven was again windy and sunny. I decided to go out on my F2 SX 80 and Vapor 8.4 (medium downhaul). What a great combination. There wasn’t a lot of wind in the harbor, but once outside I could fly. Little chop so plenty of blasting.

At the end of the session I noticed a windsurfer in the water. It turned out he had broken his mast. I went back to shore and called the Dutch coastguard. The guy was pulled out of the water by another boat before they could arrive. They showed up with three boats to do a search. Big props to the KNRM.

My tip: support your local coastguard. You never know when you’ll need them!

Smooth sailing

I went sailing at Pampus Haven today. The wind was great for my Vapor 7.6 an F2 SX 80. The sun was shining and I could go fo some long distance runs. It was just me and another windsurfer (Camiel). Really enjoyed myself.

I’ll start adding new products soon. just needed some time away from the website for a few days after all the work I did for the last release.

Hattrick!

Three days in a row! I’m starting to get tired ;-) . I managed to get of work early to go sailing. It was great. The sun was shining and the NE wind was blowing strong at Pampus Haven. The rest of the week looks great. Wind until Sunday. I’ll rest tomorrow and will go sailing again on wednesday. Long live the Dutch trade winds!

Like clockwork

Peter
April 11, 2010

Remember what I told you about the Dutch trade winds? Today was another great day at Pampus Haven. I arrived quite early at around 2pm. The wind was already there so I decided to go for my 7.6 Vapor. On my first run to the outside I already noticed that the wind was stronger then yesterday. I decided to stay close to the harbour. After about on hour the wind had already increased so much that I decided together with Boa that it was time to switch gear. Boa went out on the 95l RRD Freewave and 5.0 Lofts Sails. He was planning instantly. I switched to my Ezzy Wave Panther 5.8 and Angulo Sumo 105. We had a blast! The wind was really strong and close to overpowered at times. Another great day and the week isn’t over yet.
