I came across a new (for me at least) fins manufacturer called Black Diamonds fins. The fins are produced in Austria by hand. Each fin is made to the customers wishes. They offer the following models:

• Formula
• Slalom/Speed
• Freeride
• Freestyle
• Weed

I haven’t come across these fins in the Netherlands yet, but I know Jurjen van der Noord uses them, so I might meet with him some day to have a look. The website offers a lot of information and looks very well organised. This should make it easy to find the fin that matches your needs.

Little background: Owner Michael Puritscher has been windsurfing for 35 years and is a retired biology and sports teacher. Still windsurfing though.

Now for another interesting part. There is an extensive amount of documentation about fins (basically fins 101) on the Black Diamonds website. Go have a look if you want to learn more.

FYI. I haven’t added the fins to the website since all fins are basically custom and not production. It would be impossible to list all the options.
